This next blog is about Mr. Currin being a big deal. Well the answer is that Mr. Currin is a big deal. Mr. Currin is one of my favorite teachers. He is a funny guy who always knows how to put a smile on your face even if you are having a bad day. He is always in a positive mood no matter what and I cannot blame him for being like that, because you want people to remember in a good way not a bad way. My favorite quote from Mr. Currin is “Best Class Ever!” I will probably never ever forget him saying that. He always says this to us every other day for the last block of the day. The reason why he says this is, because he runs the student newspaper called “The Bulldog” and to get us motivated to do our work.  Another thing that I liked about Mr. Currin is that he was a good football coach also. He was my coach for 2 years, but he definitely knew what he was talking about. He was a good role model for the team to follow by, inside and outside the classroom. He’s the type of coach who could figure out any type of schemes that the defense has lined up against our offense. He always tries to find a way to win. I really respect Mr. Currin for what he does and how he does it. I have never had a problem with Mr. Currin and probably never will, but if I ever here someone talking bad about him I would stick up for him in heartbeat. As you can tell I definitely think that Mr. Currin is a big deal to me and I am very sure to many other people as well.

This next blog is about what I love writing about. There are many things that I could write about that I love. I could write about girls, life, or politic, but the one thing I do love to write about is sports. There is always something to write about for sports. You could talk about tennis, swimming, basketball, football, etc. There will always drama when it comes to sports also. You could talk about the locker room and even stuff that happens on the field or court.  Sometimes all the drama can lead to be firing of coaches, players being released, or even coaches or players being suspended. Sports are also, exciting to talk about. I am sure you could go up to more than 60% of guys on this world and talk sports with any of them. Sometimes sports are so exciting that I wish I could be one of those athletes when they take the big shot, make the long field goal kick to make it or making the last big bitch on an even count. Sports give me the chills when I watch them because sports are so unpredictable that you don’t know what’s going to happen. One sport in any city usually helps the city, because if people are down in the dumps people could always fall on a sports team to watch. I know that’s what Oklahoma City did this year when the Thunder started rolling in the playoffs this year. Sports are my favorite thing to write about, because they are to fun not to talk about. If I ever have the opportunity to being involved in sports in any way, I know that I will definitely be a competitor, because now I know what it takes to be an athlete in this day in age.

This next blog will be about the best part about the end of the school year. There are many things that could be good about the end of the year. You could be a senior waiting to graduate, you might want more hours at work or you could be a young kid and just want summer so you could do whatever you want. Well since I am a senior I can’t wait to graduate and get out of this school. I need change and I want it now! I want to meet new people and see how the real world is. Another good thing that it is the end of the school year is that I get to work more hours at work. I love working, because I can get things that my parents can’t get me and when summer comes I will hopefully be working around 40 hours a week. I will be rolling in dough for sure. One more thing that’s good about it being at the end of the school year is that vacation comes closer. I am going on vacation July 12 to July 23. I will be going to Hilton Head South Carolina with the McNamara family. This will be a blast! This will be the first vacation that I will be going on in about 6 years. The last time I went on vacation is when I went to San Antonio to visit my brother in the military. With me being older also, I could be freer on vacation, because my parents trust me to do the right thing. Overall I really hope that the end of the year comes faster, because then I will be free from high school and come closer to becoming an adult. I can’t wait for what the future brings me.

Q-5

For this blog it is a choice blog. This blog I am going to talk about what I am doing in my future. There will be a lot of obstacles in my life and there will be a lot of fun times. This year I will be attending GCC for the next 2 years then hopefully transfer down to a college in the south. The major I will be going for in college is sports management. With a sports management degree you can have a lot of job opportunities. You can do anything with this major when it comes to sports if you have a master’s degree.  You can be a scout, coach, general manager, etc. Hopefully when I do transfer to a school down south and graduate with a master’s degree, I might want a job with the Carolina Panthers or the Charlotte Bobcats. The Panthers are an NFL team and the Bobcats are an NBA team. When I work with one of these teams, I’m going to want to be a scout or a general manager, but I do realize I will have to work my way up the ladder, because that is how it goes nowadays. If this coaching thing does not work out, I will want to start my own paper view or TV show. I won’t say the idea and put it on the web, but I think that this idea could make some big money, because it hasn’t been used yet! Hopefully after that I will be able to retire where I moved down too and get a boat so I could fish and have a nice relaxing time or just live right by the beach. If this pans out to be my future in the next 30 years or 40 years, I will be truly blessed by god.

Q-4

This blog will be about my favorite pop icon. There are many pop icons in the world. You have Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, Mark Walberg, Denzel Washington, and etc. My favorite icon of all time has to be Chris Farley. Chris Farley was this big guy who just had a knack to make people laugh whenever he wanted too. He used to be on SNL with Adam Sandler all the time. Saturday Night Live use to be at its finest when he was there with Adam. Chris also made a couple of movies. You may have heard of Tommy Boy which is one of my favorite all time movies. This movie is the complete package with some comedy and realistic fiction. My family always imitates this one part of a movie where he says, “I use to take bear claws 2 at a time and I get them lodged right in this region here!” This part of the movies gets me every time. Probably one of the funniest lines Chris Farley has ever said. It is a shame he committed suicide though. He was into some heavy drugs and alcohol at this time and his life went spiraling downward. Everyone has a bad time in their life, but it is a damn shame that he had to go the way he went. Chris Farley has inspired me in many good ways. He has made me have an outgoing personality, because without that you cannot succeed in life with other people. You have to be a people person in this day in age. Another thing he inspired me with was to do what you think is right cause in the end it is just another day and also a new beginning. He made me not live day by day; he made me change to live in the moment. Overall Chris will never be forgotten in my book

Q-3

This blog is about the best book I have read for English. My favorite book I read in English was called, “To Kill a Mockingbird”. This book was about a boy named Scout who was six and Jem was ten, they met Dill, a little boy who spent the summer with his aunt who lived next door to the Finches. Dill and Jem become obsessed with the idea of making Boo Radley, the neighborhood recluse, come out of his home. They go through plan after plan, but nothing draws him out. However, these brushes with the neighborhood ghost result in a tentative friendship over time and soon the Finch children realize that Boo Radley deserves to live in peace, so they leave him alone. Scout and Jem's God-like father, Atticus, is a respected and upstanding lawyer in small Maycomb County. When he takes on a case that pits innocent, black Tom Robinson against two dishonest white people, Atticus knows that he will lose, but he has to defend the man or he can't live with himself. Tom Robinson is sent to a work prison to await another trial, but before Atticus can get him to court again, Tom is shot for trying to escape the prison. It seems that the case is finally over and life returns to normal until Halloween night. On the way home from a pageant, Bob Ewell attacks Jem and Scout in the darkness. After Jem's broke her arm,Boo Radley, rescues Scout and her brother. In order to protect Boo's privacy, the sheriff decides that Bob Ewell fell on his own knife while he was struggling with Jem. Boo Radley returns home never to be seen again. This book left an inspiration on me, because this shows me that you should always stand in what you believe in, especially when you know you could prove people wrong.

Q-2

For this blog I am going to talk about my plans this summer. This summer will be different than others. This will be my senior year of summer. There will be a lot of graduation parties I will be attending. It will be a tough one, because some of these people I will not be seeing for a while or maybe in the next couple years. This summer will be an eventful one! I will be working a lot this year. I probably will be working around 40 hours this summer. I will be working at Joey’s Pizzeria in Depew. I make very good money there now, so hopefully I can make a lot more this summer. On July 13th is when my summer actually really starts. I will be going to Hilton Head South Carolina for 9 days with my best friend Gabe McNamara and his family and friends. This will be a vacation to remember. We will be going deep scuba diving, eating very good food, and laying by the beach all day and all night. This is a much needed vacation for me. I have not been on a vacation in 7 years. My last vacation I went on was to San Antonio Texas to visit my brother and we went on the River Walk. It was very pretty. Anyways, the next exciting thing for me this summer is starting my new life and the college life. College life will be interesting. It is like opening a whole other world. There will be new people I meet and of course new girls that I meet. Overall, this summer will definitely be one to remember. I will never forget this summer only, because this will be my legit last fun summer with all my friends. I cannot wait for summer!

Q-1

For this blog it is a choice blog. This blog I am going to talk about the Los Angeles Lakers. The Lakers are led by Kobe Bryant and Andrew Bynum. Everyone is saying that the Lakers suck, but people don’t know that this Laker team has potential to rise during the playoffs. This team has experience and they have been in the playoffs before, you can even ask Kobe (5 championships). Andrew Bynum is an upcoming superstar. He is only 24 years old and he had the first triple double for a center in 20 years since David Robinson. Andrew had 10 points, 12 rebounds and 10 blocks against Denver in game 2. They won the game, but it had to go to a seven game series failing to close game 6 at Denver.  The reason why people say the Lakers sucks is, because they can’t close game when the time comes to close them. I find that reason is garbage. Kobe is 33 years old. He cannot do it all on his own! He needs help from Gasol and Sessions. Gasol is not the player he was when he first came to the Lakers. He doesn’t look like the old Gasol that played at Memphis. He is one of the softest players to play the power forward spot and you cannot be soft at the power forward spot. You have to set the tone and be physical. You need to get double doubles each game you play and play like a beast. I think we need a better small forward also. Metta World Peace can play good at times, but it seems like he would be a better player coming off the bench as an energizer. Overall, the Lakers will have a lot of rebuilding to do when Kobe retires.

For this following blog I am going to talk about the teachers evaluations in New York State. The New York State teacher evaluations are good to do, but I think that they should base it more off where kids go to school then test scores. Test scores in my opinion don’t prove anything, because people could cheat on test to get that good of grades. If you do it by where students go to school like Harvard or a Princeton then you should get a bonus. This proves that they didn’t cheat on the SAT and that they paid attention all year long. I know it is very hard to get into a Harvard or Princeton, but this just shows how devoted teachers were to their students and how well they taught the students. This is why some schools are in a budget crisis and have to cut teachers even sports, because of the bonus money they give teachers just based on test scores and not overall performance. I also think that some teachers should get tested on how well they teach there subject they teach, because some teachers are not very good at teaching and sometimes I wonder as a student on how they even got a their teaching degree. Yes some individuals are probably very smart at a certain subject like math, but are they good a teaching people it? That’s the real question you have to ask as a school administrator or superintendent. I do like how teachers are required to shadow one teacher for a year, because then you learn how to actually teach someone and you learn how some people learn in different ways Overall, I do agree with New York State on trying to find a way on how effective a teacher is for their job, but I definitely would not base it off test scores.

This blog is a choice blog. In a choice blog I can talk about whatever I would like to talk about. For this blog I am going to talk about morals and ethics. What it comes down to in life is that you are going to have your friends and family no matter what. Your family and friends are your backbone to who you are, what you are, and what you do. One of my friends decides to one day to walk out of his dad’s life that has been there all his life, all because his dad and step mom agreed to him not to go out with this girl. This girl puts my friend in a bad spot all the time. I really don’t and probably will never understand what he sees in this girl. She drives him crazy. The kid will come running to me for help and I tell him what to do and he doesn’t do it. I don’t understand what is going through his head, but whatever the case may be I would never walk out on my family. My parents always do what’s right for me. If my dad said you can’t date this girl, because she is disrespectful to my family, I wouldn’t think twice about dating her. Your father brought you in to this world and he can take you out of it whenever he wants. If you disrespect your dad or even his girlfriend’s rules or wishes in his own house then there has to be something seriously wrong with you. One thing in this generation that I have realized is that people my age think they can whatever they want whenever they want, but if they do that they’re going to go nowhere. That’s part of life though. If you fall flat on your face after doing whatever you want are you going to realize to grow up and talk to your family or are you going to still act like “Billy Bad” and try to do it all on your old when your 17?

This blog is a choice blog. In a choice blog I can talk about whatever I would like to talk about. For this blog I am going to talk about the Buffalo Bills off season moves and the 2012 NFL draft. The Buffalo Bills had one of the best off seasons in Buffalo Bills history. The Bills made a huge splash in free agency by spending 124 million dollars on defensive ends Mario Williams and Mark Anderson. Mario Williams was the number one pick in the 2006 NFL draft. He will make an immediate impact for the Bills. Mario is the best defender to come to Buffalo since Bruce Smith. The Bills will have a monster front 7 with Mario Williams and Mark Anderson at the defensive ends, Kyle Williams and Marcell Dareus at the defensive tackles, and Nick Barnett, Kelvin Sheppard, and Kirk Morrison at the linebackers. The NFL draft went well also for the Bills. The Bills drafted a cornerback with their first round pick by the name of Stephen Gilmore. He is physical corner who gets after it on the defensive side and he can press up against big receivers. Our second round pick was offensive tackle Cordy Glenn. He is 6’5 335 pounds of pure monster. He has great footwork for pass protection and is a big fan of running the ball. He will probably start at left tackle for the Bills for years to come. The next draft pick was wide receiver T.J. Graham form NC State. He is a deep threat for the Bills, running a 4.35 at his pro day. He kind of reminds the Bills former receiver Lee Evans. He will be competing for the starting job for the Bills opposite of Stevie Johnson. I think this Bills offseason will lead them to the playoffs this year.

After taking a look at my goals for the school year as a senior at Alden High School, I think I did a pretty good job at maintaining my goals. One goal that I wanted to maintain this school year is to be an honor roll student all year long. I have been a 3 time scholar athlete the past 3 semesters. My average this whole year is around a 90. Another goal that I am on the verge of maintaining is that going to play college basketball team. I just found out today that my highlight video that I created was just sent out to over 200 division III colleges in NY, Maryland, and North Carolina. Hopefully I could get an academic scholarship. That would be a blessing. I love the game of basketball too much. It honestly is the only sport that keeps me driven and keeps me in shape year round. It also shows that you can take a lot of responsibility on and off the court. My dream is to coach college basketball about 10 years down the road. Another goal was to win a sectional for basketball, but we lost are second playoff game to Tonawanda. It was a close game, but we fell short at the end. Another goal during the school year was to beat Hornell in football and win a state championship. Unfortunately we lost 20 to 14. It was a heartbreaker in overtime, but we showed heart and gave it are all throughout the whole season, we just came up short. Overall I am pretty pleased about my goals for my senior year this year. I really hope further down the road I could accomplish my dream goals after high school and actually live the dream and not dream about it.

This next blog is about television and how it affects us. I usually don’t watch too much TV because I am either at work or I am doing something with my friends. In my home there are 5 TVs. There is one in my room, one in my sisters, one in my kitchen, one in my living room, and one in my parents’ bedroom. Whenever I watch TV I usually watch ESPN, a movie, or Swamp People with my family and friends. There are many positives and negatives when you watch television. Television can be a source of false advertisement or could cause drama with people. I really don’t like television, because I don’t believe half the things they put on the television. The only thing I really do believe about television is the news. Television can cause you to be lazy or physically unfit if you watch too much of it, because if people find interest in a TV show and someone asks you to go play basketball, the person that is watching TV is probably going to watch the show then play basketball. Another negative about television is that it is one of the main causes of obesity. Obesity is and up and coming disease in the world. This can be caused by being lazy and eating a lot of food and watching TV. A positive about television is that if you watch news then you are up to date about the latest news. If it is about to snow in April, you are not going to find that out without checking the news. Overall I think television can be both good and bad for the society, because TV will always be in everyone’s life and you cannot change the way people put stuff out there on TV.

When I first heard this story I was amazed at what happened to Trayvon Martin. He was an innocent kid who just bought something to eat and drink minding his own business and he got shot. Black people do trust the police to a point. The only thing black people really trust the police for is protecting and serving them.  I feel that Trayvon Martin’s death was uncalled for and inappropriate. We have talked about it in school, but originally I heard of it through a friend’s mom. The main issue that is brought up to me is, just because Trayvon was walking around a neighborhood and he was African American he got shot. I walk around my neighborhood and my friend’s neighborhoods all the time, but nothing ever happens to me. In my opinion, this brings up a race issue. The law enforcement in that area needs to be questioned for sure. First off, the law of “Stand your Ground” needs to be overturned. It goes back to the old saying, never judge a book by its cover. This kid was completely unarmed and still got shot just because he looked a certain way and that is not okay. Second, the police force in the area needs to be questioned. Why was Zimmermon not taken to jail? He had murdered an innocent teenager based on “suspicion.” In my mind, that is crap. You can’t just randomly kill somebody off suspicion and get away with it the kid was doing nothing wrong and got killed for it. It is amazing how are government system is this messed up. This just goes to show that bad things can happen to innocent people who don’t deserve it and good things, such as not being taken to prison for murder, happen to the worst of people.

This next blog is about my future. There are many ways for me to go with my future.  When I go to college my major will be Sports Management. With a sports management degree you could coach, scout, ref, or be a manager of a basketball team. Another qualification I could add to my resume to be a coach or be a scout is me going to school to play basketball. In the future I honestly think I will be a coach for a team only, because I love sports way too much and they need to stay in my life. I know everything about football and basketball. You could probably show me a picture of each player in the NBA or NFL and I could tell you their weaknesses and strength as an athlete in their sport.  If I don’t make it as a coach or scout I could definitely see myself as an accountant for a big time corporation. As an accountant you make around $80,000 dollars a year. This can support your family easily. In the long run you can move up through the company and make more money after just starting out at $80,000. My final option for a career if an accountant doesn’t work out and being a coach or scout for a basketball team doesn’t work, I’m going to own my own business. I think I want to put a sports complex on my property. We feel that this will create a lot business and put this business on the map. Kids from Lancaster, Attica, Akron, Batavia, and Alexander would come and compete in games at my sports complex, because we are right in the middle of all the towns I mentioned. I really hope that one of these 3 options can be my future career.

In the following blog I am going to talk about Spring. There are many things to like about spring and some things to not like about Spring. Spring is where you see a lot of people at the park and see a lot of people get ready for summer. The reason why I love spring is, because there is so much more things to do, especially when it comes to having fun outside. Usually after I work out if it is nice out, I play basketball until dusk. This helps me get better as a player and it is healthy after a workout to run a little bit. This also helps me for college, because right after you work out you going to play ball so this helps me get use to the soreness when playing basketball. Another thing I like to do when its Spring is swim. It is good cardio especially when it is hot out. It also relaxes your muscles after a nice work out at the gym. One other reason I like Spring is, because I could drive my car with the windows down. I love when you could do this, because it feels good and relaxing. There are so many things you can do in Spring it is ridiculous. One of my favorite things to do at night during Spring is having a fire or a party outside. It is so peaceful to just sit by a fire with all of your friends and talk about the good times especially when you are a senior like me and you will not see all of your friends, because they will be off doing their own thing. I can’t wait for the weather to warm up so I can do more things outside, because this is the last spring break with all my friends.

In this blog we had to interview someone else from the bulldog. The person who I had to interview was Emily Zuchoski. Emily Zuchoski is a senior at our school and I asked her 5 question about herself so I could get to know her a little bit better. I asked Emily what college she was going to and what was her major for colle3ge? She told me that she is studying at GCC for human services and political science for 2 years, and then she is going to transfer to Damien to finish up her degree there. The next question I asked her was what her favorite food is. She told me that her favorite food is mash potatoes. She really like mash potatoes on thanksgiving, because that’s when she can eat a lot of mash potatoes. The third question I asked her was what some of her hobbies are. She answered back saying that she works a lot and she likes to work and she likes to go mudding in trucks or on four-wheelers with her boyfriend. The next question I asked Emily was where she works. She said that she works at Tim Horton’s and she said she like her job, because there is a lot of things to do and she said during school she works 20 hours a week. The last and final question I asked Emily was if she could go to one place in the world, where would she go and why. Emily answered back smiling saying she would definitely go to Louisiana, because there is a rich in French culture there and she could study about it and eat great rich food from there. From this interview with Emily I have learned a lot about her and became closer with her from the interview process.

This blog is a choice blog. In this blog I can choose to talk about whatever I would like. In this choice blog I am going to talk about the Buffalo Bills. The Bills made one of the biggest acquisitions in Bills history. The Bills signed Mario Williams. If you don’t know who Mario is let me describe him to you. He was the number one overall pick in 2006 from the Houston Texans. He is 6’7 285 pounds of pure monster! He has recorded 241 tackles in 83 NFL games. He also has 53 sacks in his career. Mario has made 2 pro bowl appearances, one in 2007 and one in 2008. Last year though he got injured. He only played 5 games. Mario tore his pectoral muscle. There were big questions if he could rehab fast from this injury, but sure enough he did. This pickup for the Bills is huge, because now we actually have a legit pass rusher to get to the quarterback. The Bills were ranked 27th in the pass rush in the NFL. That is pathetic. If the Bills want to have any chance to make a Super Bowl run they need a pass rusher. When the Bills went to 4 consecutive Super Bowls from 1990-1994, they had a pass rusher by the name of Bruce Smith. Bruce Smith is one of the best pass rushers of all time. We signed Mario Williams to a six year contract worth up to 100 million dollars. I do think it is a little expensive, but it is about time the Bills signed a big name free agent, because this will bring other big name free agents to Buffalo.  With this addition of Mario Willaims, I think the Buffalo Bills have a chance to make the playoffs if they make the right moves on draft day.

In this blog I am going to talk about the most embarrassing moment in my life. Everyone has an embarrassing moment in their life. It doesn’t matter who you are. I have had many embarrassing moments in my life. I will never forget this one embarrassing moment. I think I was five and it was my first time ever going to Darien Lake. I’m pretty sure it was one of the hottest days of the year. As I was walking into Darien Lake I felt something warm hit the top of my head. It felt slimy and mushy. Then my mom and dad just started laughing hysterically. I was so confused on what was going on. So as I turned around to see what they were laughing at, the slimy and mushy thing slid down the side of my face. Everyone that walked by me going into the park were giving me weird facial expressions. My mom and dad took me to the bathroom to clean up and I realized a bird pooped on me! I was so grossed out. I started puking in the bathroom and we went home, because I just wanted to take a shower. My mom and dad kept on telling me that it was good luck. I couldn’t stop crying after that happened to me. The next time we went to Darien Lake, I wore a hat and sunglasses to make sure a bird didn’t poop on me again. I will never ever forget that embarrassing moment in my life, because it was first one I ever remembered happening to me. Some embarrassing moments help you though, because that way you are not afraid to laugh at yourself. Embarrassing moments build character. It shows if you can take the heat for something you did on accident.

In this blog I am going to talk to you about distracted driving. There are many things that could distract you when you are driving. The weather could distract you, a beverage spilling in your car or your radio, but the number one thing that distracts you while you are driving is texting while you are driving. I know many people who have died, because of driving and texting. It is crazy how technology can be such a distraction now days. A recent study has shown that texting while driving is actually more dangerous than driving while you are drunk. If texting has caused you or someone you know to be injured in a car accident you may be entitled to legal compensation and benefits. Reckless driving can be punished with a fine of up to $500 and up to 90 days in jail. Some statistics are that most texting and driving accidents occur when you are 16-20 years old. When a driver texts while driving, his/hers reaction time will decrease by 35% When texting, steering capability goes down by a tremendous amount; 91%.  A driver is twenty three times more likely to get into a car accident while driving and texting. Drivers are also six times as likely to get into a car accident while dialing a number into their cellular devices. Let’s face it, from these statistics you always have a chance to get into an accident even if you think you are the greatest driver in the world. My dad thinks he is the greatest driver in the world, but I told him don’t ever text and drive with me in his car, because I feel very unsafe when he does it. Sometimes I don’t think he looks at the road at all when he texts. I feel you should get a severe punishment if you get caught driving and texting. Maybe even get your license suspended.
