Upcoming basketball season

This is a choice blog. In my choice blog I am going to write about my upcoming basketball season. This upcoming basketball season will be a fun season. I am hoping to lead the bulldogs into the playoffs this year, hopefully Buff State. We only have one returning starter but me and a couple of junior and sophomore Brian Stoldt should step up to the plate this season. We have 2 tournaments this upcoming season. One is at Akron and the other one is at Iroquois which is where the first game will take place. This year will be tough to win the division, because Cleveland Hill has 4 returning starters and Tonawanda has their leading scorer back. His name is Jesse Lalka. He averaged 21.1 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game.  I think I could hold him to 10 points easy each game when we play them. Cleve Hill on the other hand is very athletic and fast. If we don’t get boards and play good defense against them then we will be in trouble. I am hoping to average 10-17 points a game this year with 5 rebounds and 4 assist. I think we have a great group of guys that can run the fast break with are size and speed. There will be a lot of doubters in are basketball team this year but I have a weird feeling that we might do something special this year. We have a deep enough bench that if someone gets hurt then someone could step right in with no problems whatsoever. With a new coach too, Andy Smith, I think he will lead us in the right path for us to win games. He is a great coach and it seems like he has a great feel for the game of basketball.

Thanksgiving in the Bifulco home

Some Thanksgiving traditions we do at my household are eating turkey, throwing the football around, watching football, and giving thanks. I wake up from the smell of turkey or food at around 9 or 10 in the morning. Then I eat and throw the football around until one of the football games come on. When we have Thanksgiving we invite all my family members over. Everyone is in a great mood for thanksgiving when people show up at my house. We eat around 5 o’clock every year for Thanksgiving so that way we could watch football. My mom usually makes turkey, green bean casserole, mash potatoes, corn, gravy, cranberries, stuffing, and sweet potatoes. For desert we eat 4 types of pies. The pies are pumpkin, apple, cookies and cream, and chocolate pudding pie. We throw the football around usually before and after dinner and during halftimes of the football games. After we are done eating around 6 or 6:30, we play board games. We play monopoly, snakes and ladders, and charades. That usually takes about an hour or so. Afterwards we watch football or a Christmas movie. After the movie or football game, usually my family leaves. After I take a nap for an hour or so because of all the food we eat at my house. I think I gain about 10 pounds each time I eat a Thanksgiving dinner  My cousins and aunts and grandma leave around 9, then my family lets us open up one gift from are Christmas pile. If it is a game for my Xbox I usually play that for the rest of the night. Every year I am always ready for a good thanks giving, because of all the food that we eat and it also brings your family together. This is the typically day of Thanksgiving in the Bifulco home.

Christmas

My favorite holiday has to be by far Christmas. Christmas gives you a chance to show you care about people. Christmas is about coming together no matter what, through thick and thin. My family has gone through a lot during Christmas time; car accidents and deaths, but for some reason though I think everyone will be healthy and it will be an awesome Christmas. When you receive gifts during Christmas, it doesn’t matter if you don’t like it; it is the thought that counts. The food around Christmas time as well is the bomb! During Christmas I eat spaghetti and lasagna. That is the perfect dinner if you are Italian. My family and I visit my grandma and aunt on Christmas. We sit around, and watch TV, and play games, and open up presents. I also like watching basketball games on Christmas as well, but not this year, because of the NBA Lockout which is very disappointing. Another reason why I like Christmas is, because we are off from school for a week and New Year’s is right around the corner. I like white Christmas’s, because it really doesn’t hit home when there is no snow. I have a feeling this Christmas will be a good one, because my family will be healthy and financially, my parents are in better shape than last year.  Christmas also celebrates the birth of Jesus.  My family is a big believer in God. Usually on Christmas my family and I go to church for about 2 hours and celebrate the birth of Jesus.  God has helped my family a lot and I think it’s the least we could do is to celebrate his son’s birth. Overall I think Christmas is the best holiday to help people get their spirits up about life and if someone is having a bad Christmas, try and turn it into a good one for them.
