Favorite Music Artists

My favorite type of music is Rap. My favorite artist for rap is either Lil Wayne or Eminem. They are my favorite, because they both tell it how it is in life. They both have gone through a lot when they were little. Lil Wayne didn’t have a dad too look up to when they were younger. Wayne grew up in New Orleans in a bad area where crime rate was at a high rate at the time.  Wayne was smart in school. He was an “A” student.  Wayne started to become a public rapper at the age of 11. By the age of 14 he was signed by Mannie Fresh. He was in music videos with Juvenile by the age of 16 and sold his first album called, “Tha Block Is Hot”. After that Lil Wayne became a superstar. He made millions. When he sold all of the “Tha Carter” albums, people said that he was the best rapper alive. Eminem, also known as Marshall Mathers was raised in Detroit, Michigan. He grew up fatherless and grew up in a bad area like Wayne. Eminem would change schools 2 or 3 times a year on average when he was a child. Eminem was bullied when he was a kid. He was beat up and shoved into lockers constantly. Eminem eventually ended up dropping out of school at the age of 17 after he failed ninth grade 3 times. A few years later down the road, he frequently became part of rap battles in Detroit. He later got married to Kim Scott and had a girl named Haliey Scott.  Eminem sold his first album in 1996 called “Infinite”. Eminem was later discovered by Dr. Dre. Dre was one of the best rappers of his time when he was with N.W.A. He later produced Eminem’s albums and preformed with him. Eminem became a star. He was known as the best white rapper of all time. Eminem and Lil Wayne are my favorite artists, because they started form rags to riches. They show that you could do anything if you put your mind to it.

My Greatest Moment

One of my many great moments in my life is when I went to the NCAA March Madness Tournament in 2007 in Buffalo, NY. The tickets were very expensive, but it was worth every penny, because of the great experience I had. My favorite team Duke was playing there and at the time my favorite player was playing there too. His name was Stephen Curry. He played for Davidson. He was an incredible player that could score from anywhere on the court. Most of all he was a very respectful young kid who was very humble. I watched Curry play against one of my rival teams Maryland, who at the time had DJ Strawberry and Greivis Vasquez. They were great scorers and great defensive players. Even though they Davidson lost, Curry ended up having thirty points, four rebounds, three assist, and three steals. Strawberry and Vasquez ended up combining for twenty-two points, twelve rebounds, and nine assist. I guess Maryland was too much for Davidson. My Dukies were up! I couldn’t wait for them to play. They were facing Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU).  VCU had a solid team with a great leader in Eric Maynor. He lead the team with twenty two points per game and six assist per game. Duke on the other hand had a great leader in Greg Paulus and DeMarcus Nelson. Duke had a very good team and was projected to win this game. VCU though came out strong in the game. They seemed like they were going to win the game, because Duke came out flat soon as they took the court. You could tell by their body language. The score was thirty-nine to thirty-eight. Then Duke went on to a ten nothing run on VCU, but VCU climbed right back and tied the score up. With 20 seconds left Maynor took a shot and hit it and VCU beat Duke, seventy-nine to seventy-seven.

Favorite Season

My favorite season of the year is defiantly winter, because I love the cold. I have lived in Buffalo my whole life and if you do not like the winter here you must be crazy! When winter comes I automatically think of basketball. Basketball is my favorite sport and I want to go play college basketball somewhere. I think this year for basketball we will go to the playoffs hopefully at Buff State to win the Section IV Title. I love having basketball in the winter, because after all the running from practice gets you really hot so once you step outside you instantly cool down. Another reason why I love winter is, because the NFL playoffs start. Hopefully we will see the Bills this year in the playoff picture and maybe a home playoff game in the snow. It is also sad though that the NFL playoffs are starting, because I love watching football and I would not want it to end. Winter also means the Buffalo Sabres. The Sabres have gotten really good this year. I think they will make a race for the cup this year, because of the new owner Terry Pegula. He has a winning attitude and doesn’t even care on how much money he spends on the Sabres as long as they win the Stanley Cup. Winter is a great season to work out. You have to prepare yourself for the summer and to impress the ladies of course. Another reason to work out is to get bigger for your fall sport too.  I would have to say that the only negative for the winter has to be the driving. It is terrible to drive in this weather. Sometimes you can only go thirty miles per hour in a forty-five, because you cannot see what is in front of you.

Facebook...

Facebook is a good tool for people that are self-centered and who like to make updates every second of the day. I do have a Facebook, but I only use it too contact people or too see what my friends are doing. When I’m bored sometimes ill creep on people profiles, but I usually look at Facebook for 5 minutes then I will be done with it for the day. I am not really into starting drama. Drama is one of my pet peeves. Some positives about Facebook are that you can keep up to date with friends and families to see how they are. Another positive is that you can meet new people and get to know other people by Facebook. Facebook also tells you if there are any events going on. If you are ever bored one day you could always refer to Facebook to see if there are any big events going on.  The last positive for Facebook is that it could be used as a “home” for some people that are in the military. It helps the military people to see pictures of loved ones and too keep in contact with them. Some negatives of Facebook are that there is constant drama. If you like one thing off Facebook or say something bad on someone’s status, someone will always find out and they will thing something bad of you. Facebook could also lead to friendships or relationships to be broken up if you use it a lot. Facebook could lead to bullying too as well. Just recently someone died, because of cyber bullying. That’s terrible. Overall I think there should not be any Facebook, Twitter, or MySpace, because it causes too much problems. You could get killed, bullied, and could lose friends, because of these sites.

Favorite Things to Write About

Some things I feel comfortable writing about are sports, food, music, girls, and some current events. I love sports. My favorite sports teams are the Buffalo Bills (NFL), Buffalo Sabres (NHL), Duke Blue Devils (NCAA Basketball), and Boise State (NCAA Football). I have been a Bills fan for a long time. Ever since they went to the Super Bowl four times and lost I will no matter what be a Bills fan. The Sabres have just started coming along the past few years. They have made the playoffs a couple times and have done well. With the new owner Terry Pegula, I guarantee the Sabres will have the Stanley Cup in no time. My Dukies have done well the past couple years. They won the national championship 2 years ago and they are on pace for another title this year after bringing in the number one recruit in the nation again, Austin Rivers. They have 3 returning starters and hopefully Rivers could lead Duke to the promise land again. Boise State has become one of my new favorite teams recently. I love the blue turf they have and the way they just pass all over everybody. They are an up and coming team too. Four years ago they won in the Tostitos Bowl. It was one of the craziest games I have ever watched. This year they have Kellen Moore returning to quarterback this year again and hopefully they have a chance at the national title again. Some food that I like is spaghetti, chicken wing dip, chicken bowl, and steak. My mom makes all some of these foods when I am really hungry. My dad and his best friend Mr. Altieri make foods from the show “Man vs. Food”. They make fries, coleslaw, 2 cheeseburgers, 2 fried donuts, and a fried egg.  That is called a donut burger. Girls are also a topic of discussion. They generate a lot of drama and good looks, but overall they are a nice species. Some current events I like to talk about are global warming, business taxes, and the economy or any big storm that happens.

My Favorite Year of High School

My favorite year of schooling defiantly has to be my senior year. You have a lot more freedom compared to all your other years of high school. Your freshmen year you are at the top of the food chain. You get picked on and you take a lot of grief. You do not know anyone, besides your classmates. You really only know your Vice Principal and the Principal. Sometimes you get lonely too especially if you roam the hallway by yourself. Your sophomore year you begin to mature a little bit more. You either play JV or a Varsity sport if you are good enough. If you play JV you have a better chance of starting then Varsity as a sophomore. You are able to get a job and your permit. You don’t really get picked on as much, because you will know most of the people in the school. As a junior you feel more confident. You know everything about school now and you know your teachers. You are towards the top of the bottom of the food chain. You are also maturing more and you have more responsibility. Some colleges start to send you letters too depending on how good your grades are and maybe you will get interest from a school, because of how good you play in a sport Finally your senior year is the best. You have way more privileges, but a little more responsibility then last year. You get to leave early or come in late. You have to pick a college to go to. If you play sports you have a better chance of starting, because you are a senior and understand the sport more. You mess around a whole lot more too, especially towards the end of the year with senior pranks. If your senior year doesn’t go as well as mine is then you are crazy!

Goals as a student and an athlete

This school year one of my goals as a student is to get on the honor roll all year long. I have never did that before so I figured that I might as well end senior year in a bang. As an athlete I wanted to win a state championship for football.  I have never had such a gut wrenching feeling in my stomach after we lost to Hornell in the regional game. I have never had such a gut wrenching feeling in my stomach. Are whole team has been working so hard this offseason. We have a lot of talent coming up from the JV team which went undefeated last season. We have a lot of expectations as a team and as players. If we don’t go all the way we will feel that we failed as a team and we would fail our coach.  Another goal as an athlete is to win a sectional title for basketball and get a scholarship to a Division 3 school to play basketball. I got an email from a coach to go to this college exposure camp in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania on October 9th. The college is a Division II school. There will be over 200 coaches in attendance and hopefully I get looked at by a couple colleges after this camp. The sectional title will be hard to get but I think we have enough talent to win a lot of games this year for basketball. We will need to beat Tonawanda once and Cleveland Hill once to have a chance at the sectional title. We have the length and a deep bench this year. It is honestly the best it has been in the last few years. If I average about 14 points a game it will be hard for any team to keep up with us this year.

My Summer in Review

This summer was a blast! Ever since the first day of summer I have hung out with all my friends every day. All of us would go to the “spot” relax and lie out in the sun and swim all day and night. I did work a lot this summer though. I worked on average around 35-40 hours a week at Darien Lake. I was a water attendant there. My job was to push people down the water slides and get girls numbers.  Shortly after work ended for me I went to a basketball camp at Hilbert College. I was there for a week. I was one of the best players there. I averaged around 20 points a game, 7 rebounds, and 4 assist. I won an award for best foul shooting percentage which was 94%. My team ended up losing in the first round of playoffs though. We lost by 3 points. It was a tough lost, because I wanted to win it all but we just came up short at the end letting them get easy offensive rebounds. Right after basketball camp, football started. Our goal from right after we lost to Hornell in the regional game was to beat Hornell and win the Class B state championship. Every Tuesday and Thursday we would have football workouts to get bigger and bond as a team. A lot of people had doubts about us, because we lost our most of our starters due to graduation but we knew we had to prove them wrong. Football practice started and we were preparing for Cobleskill at the Carrier Dome. It was the first time Alden has ever been at the Carrier Dome, so we know we had pressure on us to win, but we came up on top winning 31-10.
