M-2

In this blog I am going to talk to you about distracted driving. There are many things that could distract you when you are driving. The weather could distract you, a beverage spilling in your car or your radio, but the number one thing that distracts you while you are driving is texting while you are driving. I know many people who have died, because of driving and texting. It is crazy how technology can be such a distraction now days. A recent study has shown that texting while driving is actually more dangerous than driving while you are drunk. If texting has caused you or someone you know to be injured in a car accident you may be entitled to legal compensation and benefits. Reckless driving can be punished with a fine of up to $500 and up to 90 days in jail. Some statistics are that most texting and driving accidents occur when you are 16-20 years old. When a driver texts while driving, his/hers reaction time will decrease by 35% When texting, steering capability goes down by a tremendous amount; 91%.  A driver is twenty three times more likely to get into a car accident while driving and texting. Drivers are also six times as likely to get into a car accident while dialing a number into their cellular devices. Let’s face it, from these statistics you always have a chance to get into an accident even if you think you are the greatest driver in the world. My dad thinks he is the greatest driver in the world, but I told him don’t ever text and drive with me in his car, because I feel very unsafe when he does it. Sometimes I don’t think he looks at the road at all when he texts. I feel you should get a severe punishment if you get caught driving and texting. Maybe even get your license suspended.
